The Last Airbender Trailer The story follows the adventures of Aang, a young successor to a long line of Avatars, who must put his childhood ways aside and stop. Netflix has announced that it will bring Aang's epic story to Netflix in a live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Beginning production in 2019, Avatar: The Last Airbender will be helmed by original series creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael DiMartino.

'We're thrilled for the opportunity to helm this live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. We can't wait to realize Aang's world as cinematically as we always imagined it to be, and with a culturally appropriate, non-whitewashed cast. It's a once-in-a-lifetime chance to build upon everyone's great work on the original animated series and go even deeper into the characters, story, action, and world-building. Netflix is wholly dedicated to manifesting our vision for this retelling, and we're incredibly grateful to be partnering with them,' explained Konietzko and DiMartino.

Netflix will partner with Nickelodeon to bring this magical world back to television. Melissa Cobb, vice-president of Kids & Family Content at Netflix said, “We are committed to honoring Bryan and Mike’s vision for this retelling and are thrilled to support them on creating a live-action event series, bringing Aang's epic world of elemental magic to life for global audiences on Netflix.”

There is still no word on how many episodes we can expect to see, or who will be cast in the leading roles. Avatar: The Last Airbender ended its run 10 years ago and we think it has one of the best finales of all time. What do you think of Aang getting the live-action treatment on Netflix? It was such an amazing show that it left viewers wanting more thus the emergence of the show's story through other forms of media and also inspiring other show that do their own take on its premise and story.

    'I remember distinctively watching Avatar: The Last Airbender as a young child and I can easily say that it is one of my favorite series based on how rich the whole story is.
